Beginnings
In the beginning. Actually
there was a beginning. I have considerable data on the start and
the middle, but as of now no particular knowledge of the end. So
if you are of the curious sort or even if you are not of the curious
sort, I will endeavor to enlighten you.
On November the 1st 1922 the small town
of Lebanon, Oregon , Population 2510 had a sudden increase in population
to 2511. You are right, that was me, coming to town at 10 minutes
after midnight Halloween night. Almost a spook you see, but
officially noted as November 1.
The scene at the Lebanon Hospital
included my Mother, the Doctor, two nurses, and eventually me.
Although not on stage, but waiting in the wings, or waiting room if you
prefer, were my Father, five sisters and three brothers. So right
off there were enough of us for a small party or a large car. No
SUV vehicles in those days, but my Dad had a 1918 Dodge with lots of
room. Including jump seats between the front and rear regular
seats. Which was a good thing. The first remembrance I have
of that car was sitting on the cloth top behind the rear seat.
